Zach Szmara is the Founder and Executive Director of Immigrant Connection, a national non-profit that equips local churches to welcome immigrants, pursue justice, and strengthen their communities through accessible immigration legal services.
Through a Church-based model, congregations become centers of trust, belonging, and practical help – transforming both the lives of immigrant families and the churches themselves.
Under his leadership, Immigrant Connection has trained more than 120 Department of Justice – accredited legal representatives and launched over 50 church-based offices across 25 states, serving more than 55,000 immigrant families from over 170 countries while helping churches embody the gospel through tangible acts of love, justice, and hospitality.
Zach holds a BA in Intercultural Studies and Biblical Studies from Indiana Wesleyan University and an MA in Intercultural Studies from Asbury Theological Seminary. He is accredited by the U.S. Department of Justice as an immigration legal representative, with cross-cultural experience living and serving in Papua New Guinea and Mozambique.
An ordained minister in The Wesleyan Church, Zach also pastors The Bridge, a multicultural, multiethnic, and multilingual congregation in Logansport, Indiana. He is married to Lyndy, a special education administrator, and together they have one son, Isaac.
