World Evangelism Sunday

Across the globe, countless people have yet to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. On World Evangelism Sunday, we join churches in the worldwide Wesleyan Methodist family to affirm this truth: every follower of Jesus is called to join in God’s mission of reconciliation and love.

Inspired by John Wesley’s historic words—“I look upon all the world as my parish”—this day reminds us that evangelism isn’t the work of a few, but the invitation to all.

Your participation helps spark a fresh commitment to faith-sharing in local churches and fuels a movement to equip leaders around the world through World Methodist Evangelism.

Why World Evangelism Sunday?

Because most Christians seldom share their faith.

Because the world needs to hear about Jesus.

Because the mission hasn’t changed:

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” —Mark 16:15

We believe the Church can reverse the trend—together.

Why the second Sunday in June?

Because on June 11, 1739, John Wesley wrote a journal entry that changed everything.

Facing criticism for preaching in the fields and outside of church buildings, he wrote: “I look upon all the world as my parish.”

It was a bold declaration—one that broke down walls and expanded the Church’s mission beyond convention and comfort.

That same spirit inspires World Evangelism Sunday—a call for churches around the world to say yes to the global mission of Jesus.

That’s why we chose the second Sunday of June each year to remember this historic moment—and live into it.

One Sunday. One Mission. One Global Movement.
