The Order of the FLAME (Faithful Leaders As Mission Evangelists) is a covenant community dedicated to equipping, nurturing, and encouraging young clergy and their spouses in evangelism and mission.

How can I participate?

United States

Each year, FLAME members, bishops, and other leaders nominate young clergy to attend this invitation-only conference. The four-day event is hosted annually in St. Simons Island, Georgia.

Those who have been nominated to attend the Order of the FLAME for the first time will receive an invitation from World Methodist Evangelism with registration information and appropriate links.

As a bonus, United States participants enjoy a fun excursion day midway through the gathering, included as part of the experience.

The Order of the FLAME encourages an environment where leaders from different traditions, races, cultures, and backgrounds can come together around a shared commitment: being mission evangelists in the areas in which they serve. Can I return?

Members of the Order of the FLAME are always welcome at our annual gatherings. These times together allow for connection, new engagement with emerging leaders, and recommitment to being mission evangelists in the communities in which we serve.

What should I expect?

Every day will follow a similar pattern:

Morning-Early Afternoon: teaching and workshop sessions
Mid-late Afternoon: time for connection, reflection, and leisure
Evening: worship and celebration

Teachers, presenters and preachers are invited from different ministry and cultural backgrounds, focusing on themes such as faith-sharing, discernment of call, cross-cultural mission, Christian leadership, etc.

What will it cost?

If you are a new member, the FLAME experience is a gift to you and your spouse (if applicable) which includes all conference materials, accommodation for the four nights of the gathering, and all meals. A nominal registration fee and travel expenses are your only responsibilities.

Returning members pay the entire cost of the annual FLAME gathering (conference materials, accommodation for four nights, and meals) through the registration fee for returning members.

Because of our commitment to nurturing young leaders, WME offers the FLAME experience as a gift to each new class of members. This gift is not possible without the support of individuals, churches, and other organizations who are dedicated to making the good news known.

Nominate

FLAME members, bishops and other leaders of the various denominations within the Wesleyan Methodist family in North America are invited to nominate at least one young clergy from each of their conferences or areas, to attend the annual gathering of the Order of the FLAME. The nominated clergy must be under 45 years of age. After receiving the nominations, WME will extend an invitation to each clergy to attend the upcoming FLAME gathering.

FLAME fellows cohorts will experience a 10-month, in-depth program which includes coaching in a supportive small group context, relational accountability, the opportunity for collaborations work, and experiential learning through guest leaders as well as site visits in the US and abroad.

God is still AMAZING! This past week has been transformational for my life and my ministry. I'm humbled, yet excited to have been inducted as a new member of the Order of the FLAME. I'm forever grateful for the teaching, worship, fellowship, relationships, Sabbath rest, preaching, and free expressions of anointed, gifted, talented servants of God. True to the nature of God, Order of the FLAME - this encounter with Holy Spirit - cannot be adequately explained; it must be experienced.

"I felt my heart strangely warmed" while I'm listening to John Wesley (portrayed by Rev. Don) sharing his experiences with his brother Charles as Christian missionaries at For Frederica in Saint Simons Island. Thanks to our leaders at World Methodist Evangelism for this remarkable rekindling and retelling of the Wesleyan experience in the power of the Holy Spirit in the 21st century.

A beautiful week! I had the privilege of participating in World Methodist Evangelism Order of the FLAME this week and what a blessing it was! It's a gathering of pastors from the wide Wesleyan community of denominations. This year 6 countries were represented. I went as a guest preacher and left transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. As I made so many new friends from around the world, I was reminded that Jesus is still at work in powerful ways. All blessing and honor and glory to God, now and forever.

What an amazing experience I can not stop talking about how the Holy Spirit had His way the entire week. How I felt like I was living and experiencing the Book of Acts with everyone on one accord. How meeting so many new brothers and sisters in Christ. How much material I received to take back to my congregation. How amazing the entire week was!
